Bayou Classic Jazz Brunch-This event is always held on the Saturday immediately following Thanksgiving. The purpose of this event is to provide an opportunity for LLBC members, local and nationally elected officials, community and business leaders, CRT members and constituents of the Caucus to network in a relaxed and festive atmosphere. Following this event, most participants attend the Bayou Classic Game at the New Orleans Superdome, which involves Grambling State University and Southern University A & M.
LLBC Scholarship Program - The Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus provides scholarships to deserving students throughout Louisiana in order to help them to further their educational goals. The proceeds raised from the Bayou Classic Jazz Brunch fund the LLBC Scholarship Program. In 2003, the LLBC awarded over $38,0000 in scholarship awards.
LLBC Internship Program - Center for Women in Government - The LLBC is proud to partner with Nicholls State University, and the Women in Government Program to host a student intern. Corporate Round Table (CRT) - The LLBC Corporate Round Table provides an opportunity for members of the private sector, educational institutions, and and other interested parties to discuss legislative concerns. This group meets quarterly and works as a think tank for the purpose of identifying and reviewing the best possible avenues of improving the lives of those the LLBC serves.
Economic Development Conference - The LLBC presents its Economic Development Conference generally in the Spring. The conference is designed to promote economic development by bringing together business experts with the new entrepreneur. Past topics have included: Taxes and Planning, Developing the Business Plan, State & Federal Procurement, Raising Capital, and a host of others.
Grambling State University LLBC Presidential Scholarship Award - This newly created scholarship is awarded annually to one student and covers tuition fees and room and board. |
